Natural Loofahs, 100% Biodegradable, Locally Sourced, Embedded Equals Exfoliating Soap

Have you tried our loofah soap yet? If not what are you waiting for?

We embed the natural loofahs in the soaps.  It’s 100% natural made with extra virgin olive oil, castor oil, coconut oil natural colorants and essential oils. The loofah embed  makes the bar a two-for one. You get a wonderful natural soap that won’t dry you skin and a loofah all  in one, people love it!

Last year we started growing our own loofahs. Used to exfoliate  — remove dead dry skin, leaving it soft to the touch and with a healthy glow.

Most of us are familiar with the plastic colorful puffs, made of synthetic mesh. The problem of these is that we eventually throw them away, leaving them to populate and languish in landfills, oceans, and fresh water, weeping microfibers of plastic that end up in our bodies by way of the food and water we consume. They pollute our environment and negativity effect our climate for hundreds of years.

And then there are natural loofahs, 100% compostable and biodegradable

  • zero waste
  • affordable, and sustainable.

So, what exactly is a loofah? It is a plant — a fruit to be more precise. Cultivated and eaten as a vegetable in India, China, Nepal, Bangladesh and Vietnam, known in Egypt as an Egyptian cucumber, also spelled luffa. It’s a part of  the pumpkin, squash and gourd family.

Allowed to mature and dry on the vine, the edible flesh of a luffa becomes the network of mesh like fibers.

Multifunctional, you can use loofahs as a sponge to clean dishes, counter tops etc. Using loofahs verses mass-produced synthetic products is just one more way to make your home more eco-friendly, yay you!

These are the loofahs I grew last year. Weeks before I was due to harvest them Los Angeles was deluged with rain, a consequence of climate change. My pots were saturated and almost all of the loofahs gourds rotted before my very eyes, it broke my heart.

I salvaged the seeds, and this spring I planted a new crop.  The plants are thriving! We can not wait to harvest them in the fall and embed them in our soaps. You can o rder them here on our we site. We offer  free local delivery. You can visit us at the farmers markets. We are at the  Redondo Beach Farmers market every Thursday from 8 AM - 1 PM, 309 Esplanade, and every Friday we are at the Hermosa Beach farmers market 12 noon - 4 PM, 1035 Valley Dr. Can’t make it to the market no problem. We sell this bar at The Golden Triangel shop in Lomita  where you can also find our natural lip balms, and foaming bath soak. The Golden Triangel is a great shop, filled with eco friendly products. I love just wondering around, I discover something new every time I visit,  and Heather, the shop owner is wonderful.  The Golden Triangle, is in Lomita CA, 24604 Narbonne Ave.
